Samsung Gear S3 update helps fix battery drain issue

Consumer electronics giant Samsung has rolled out an update for its flagship smartwatch Gear S3. Weighing 21MB in size the update will resolve the battery draining issue faced by Gear S3 users.

Recently, GSMArena reported that many Samsung Gear S3users are facing battery draining problem. This issue became prominent after the recent Tizen 3.0 update. The company has also told 9to5Google that presently they are rolling out the update in Canada, but soon they will roll out a global patch for all the Gear S3 watches. The update is available on both Frontier and Classic variants of the smartwatch.

For those unaware, Samsung launched the Gear S3 in India In January this year at Rs 28,500. The device is available at all the leading online and retail stores in the country.

Talking about the specifications, the Samsung Gear S3 comes with a 1.3-inch circular Super AMOLED display of 360×360 pixel resolution. The device flaunts a display with rotating bezel and offers new enhanced features. The wearable has a full-colour ‘Always On’ display protected with a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass SR+.

The smartwatch is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor paired with 768MB of RAM and offers 4GB of internal storage. It comes with IP68 rating, which makes the device water and dust resistant. It also comes equipped with a heart rate sensor and offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS and Glonass as connectivity options. The device is backed by a 380 mAh battery and also supports wireless charging.

 Both variants of the Gear S3 will be available with 22mm straps. The only difference between the two variants is of the weight, design and connectivity options available. While the Frontier variant weighs 62g, sports a rugged outdoor ‘enduring’ style and is 3G/LTE-enabled, the Classic version weighs 57g, has a ‘minimalistic elegant’ design and does not have support for 3G/LTE.
